The fourth installment in our free, winter-long Wellness Series takes place on Thursday, January 21st at 6pm. Presentations by alternative and holistic healthcare practitioners from our community are designed to empower and educate the medical professionals, healers and helpers in our community so that our community thrives as a whole.
Presence and Healing through Chinese Medicine
In our accelerating, chaotic, and sometimes fearful world we need skills to bring ourselves back into balance and to process the difficult experiences that we often face, for our own sakes and for the sake of those who depend on us. This is especially true if we work with others in a healing context. Join Gina & Mark Montgomery from Bend Community Healing on January 21st as part of the Mother’s Wellness Series to learn and practice tools derived from Chinese medicine, Sufi energy healing and a variety of other disciplines. We’ll explore the concept of “energy literacy”, cultivating the ability to perceive and nourish our own vital energy as well as the energy of those around us.
Staying Healthy with Medicinal Mushrooms
Alex Becker became interested in medicinal mushrooms after learning of their incredible healing properties. The fact that they grow in the wild to be picked for free coupled with his frugal, penny-pinching Scottish heritage, Alex found a great activity that brought him into nature on a healing adventure. From the Turkey Tail mushroom to Reishi, and Chaga to Cordyceps, come learn which medicinal mushrooms have been approved by the FDA to aid in the chemo/radiation process, which one has more antioxidants than blueberries or acai and which one tastes eerily like lobster!
When:
Thursday, January 21st from 6-8pm at the Mother’s Westside Cafe, 1255 NW Galveston Avenue.
