When we opened Mother’s Downtown Kitchen, we did so to be of service to the community in which we live. We believe healthy food should be available to everyone. That’s why we carefully choose local and organic ingredients to serve in our cafes and kitchens. Healthy food nourishes the body so we can have energy and spend time with one another. But that is not the only way we give back to our community.

As we enter into the holiday season, many of us are turning our attention to those who need it most. Whether that is a charity or foundation, a community gathering, or a friend, most of us understand the need to give back. Especially during the holiday season.

That’s why we want to take a moment to mention a few of the organizations we support and contribute to in and around Bend. Just as we bring healthy food to the community through our cafes and kitchens, thanks to your patronage we are also able to donate food, gift cards, and dining spaces to our community.

Here Are a Few Ways Mother’s Downtown Supports Our Community:

We Provide Food for Volunteers

Every meal you purchase at Mother’s Downtown Kitchen supports our ability to give meals to others. That’s why we are able to support volunteers by providing them food and nourishment during their service. Mother’s Downtown has fed volunteers for The Environmental Center, the Northwest Trail Alliance, the Nonprofit Association of Oregon, the Family Access Network, the American Cancer Society, and many other nonprofit organizations.

We Donate Gift Cards to Local Organizations

We also do what we can to support donation efforts by a number of local charities. This means donating gift cards that can be auctioned off for donation dollars. We’ve given Mother’s Downtown Kitchen gift cards to school clubs, social awareness organizations, and senior living education organizations. We Host Events for Local Schools

In addition to donating food, we also donate space, and our time. That means hosting events at Mother’s Downtown to raise awareness and funds for local nonprofits. We recently held an event for Jewell Elementary School in honor of our local educators. We made delicious food, visited with educators, and raised more than $200 in support of our local school system. Earlier in the year, we did the same for Family Kitchen, and we hope to continue to do more of these in the future.
